This federal election year brings with it an urgent need to support the regional transport infrastructure requirements identified by local and state governments. SEATS are advocating on behalf of their local government members for increased federal funding into priority projects that will ensure the continued economic development of the South East of Australia. We are seeking federal funding support for specific prioritised road and rail infrastructure, the fast development of EV charging networks in the South East of Australia, increasing further the Active Transport needs to support tourism and community health and finally changes to government policy to shift towards infrastructure “betterment” due to the enduring climate change events experienced. The events include bushfires, floods and wind storms and we feel that resilience to these occurrences require government policy change on federal funding guidelines.
