On 9th December, Transport for NSW released its draft Illawarra Shoalhaven Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan.
SEATS recognises many of the actions outlined in the Plan especially:
- the progressive increase in network efficiency on the South Coast Line to improve reliability of freight services while supporting additional passenger services
- a tiered network for road freight to inform targeted road upgrades to support freight access to destinations like Manildra’s Shoalhaven starches plant, BlueScope and Port Kembla, and to divert high-volume, roadbased through-freight away from centres
- a tiered network for road freight, enhancing the resilience and reliability of the overall freight movement within the region and beyond.
and the more specific references to:
- Construction of passing loops near Toolijooa (between Kiama and Berry); Bi-modal train deployment; Targeted track duplication #3
- To increase frequency and improve coordination of passenger and freight services #6
- Princes Highway specific improvements

Several points within the Plan are at difference with SEATS long established priorities and these will be part of a submission to be lodged by SEATS back to Transport for NSW before the February 9th deadline
